How would you describe your athletic experience as well as Max’s at Gustavus?
Max has had a great experience at Gustavus and a big part of it is being a part of the baseball team. Balancing school and baseball with other activities has been great for time management and balancing multiple priorities. As we see how much he loves Gustavus and being part of the baseball team, Penny and I have become part of the baseball family and have developed great friends. We feel like we are part of the Gustie Family!
What motivates you to financially support Gustie athletics?
We believe in Gustavus and the well rounded experience Max has had with academics, athletics and faith. We have a desire to continue to help Gustavus athletics be successful and are happy to support this important part of our son’s experience.
How would you encourage others to give to Gustie athletics?
There are lots of ways to support Gustie athletics—G Club, tournament fundraisers, Annual Fund. As you sit and watch how your sons or daughters have grown in their experience at Gustavus, think about how a gift supports this experience for them and others.
Anything else you would like to add?
Penny and I truly feel blessed by the experience Max has had at Gustavus. He is so happy there. At Thanksgiving, we always go around and say what each of us is thankful for. Last Thanksgiving, as it was Max’s turn he shared he was thankful for being able to go to Gustavus and the great experience he has had. What more could you want your son to say about his college time. We have felt welcomed and our support and participation appreciated and while Penny and I did not attend Gustavus ourselves, we are Gusties!

How would you describe your athletic experience at Gustavus?
My athletic experience at Gustavus was exceptional. Men’s Tennis Coach Steve Wilkinson poured his heart and soul into the program and we all benefited greatly.
What motivates you to financially support Gustie athletics?
I support the tennis program primarily because of my experience and confidence in the program. I know the money is going to a good cause. The late Coach Steve Wilkinson transitioned the program well to Coach Tommy Valentini.
How would you encourage others to give to Gustie athletics?
I’ve always thought of “giving” as a personal choice. I would encourage individuals to look back on their experience and help “make a difference”. Help create a long lasting institution that can provide equal or better experiences just like we had.
